Our Mission

REGAL HOFFMANN & ASSOCIATES LLC, a full-service agency based in New York, was founded in 2002. We represent writers working in a wide range of categories, but what connects all of them is a unique creative intelligence, a flair for great storytelling, and, more often than not, a desire to not play by the rules in order to produce works that are the very opposite of more of the same. That’s true for the literary fiction, thrillers and crime fiction, serious narrative non-fiction, works in translation, speculative fiction, book club fiction, and children's books our agents are proud to be handling both as primary agents and as co-agents for agencies and publishers from around the world. Our clients include Nobel Laureates, Pulitzer Prize-winners, New York Times bestsellers, university professors, visual artists, and hip-hop stars. Among the notable titles we’ve sold are THE TIME TRAVELER'S WIFE, SHANTARAM, BEAT THE REAPER, WARM BODIES, KIM JIYOUNG: BORN 1982, THE APPEAL, HOW FASCISM WORKS: THE POLITICS OF US AND THEM, THE TAO OF WU, NEW DAUGHTERS OF AFRICA, THE NIGHT GARDENER, RUMP, SAVAGE HARVEST, HIKING WITH NIETZSCHE, and THIS CLOSE TO HAPPY.

REGAL HOFFMANN & ASSOCIATES is at the forefront of the effort to protect and increase authors’ rights in a rapidly changing commercial environment that poses unique challenges and opportunities. We are deeply committed to every aspect of our clients' careers, from the editorial work of developing a great book proposal to line-editing a fiction manuscript; from negotiating state-of-the-art book deals to working to promote and publicize the book when it's published; from selling our clients’ works into the major and minor translation markets to exploiting the hunger for IP in the world of film and TV. Above everything else, we believe in the power of storytelling to change people’s minds and lives and in the need for many more and different stories that are only beginning to be heard to become an integral part of the conversation.

REGAL HOFFMANN & ASSOCIATES' agents are members of the Association of American Literary Agents (AALA) and abide by its Canon of Ethics. Our domestic commission is 15% and our foreign commission is 20%. We charge no reading fees.
